Cagliari defender Davide Astori insists that time is on his side and a move to Milan doesn't necessarily have to happen right away.

The 24-year-old has long been on Milan's radar and there was talk of a transfer taking place when the window opened in January.

Astori is co-owned by Cagliari and Milan, and both apparently want to buy him outright, so a battle is expected at the end of the season.

Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, he said: "Massimo Cellino and Adriano Galliani will decide.

Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, he said: "Massimo Cellino and Adriano Galliani will decide.

"My future is in the hands of the Presidents. I can decide little. Today in football you need to learn to be diplomatic."

Asked if he would like to stay at Cagliari, he said: "I would be just as happy and with the new stadium in development you can think that there is an important project here.

"I am very happy in Cagliari and I would like to finish this season well."
