Udinese director Fabrizio Larini admits picking Arsenal in the Champions League preliminary round was “the worst opponent possible.”

The Friulani face a huge obstacle on their way to the tournament, as they travel to the Emirates on August 16 and play at the Stadio Friuli on August 24.

“This draw gave us the worst opponent possible, so there's no denying that,” sighed director of sport Larini.

“Arsenal truly are an extremely strong squad. What spirit will we face them with? That's the least of our problems.

“I can assure you we're not beaten before we even step on to the field.”

When asked if this represented a ‘mission impossible' for Udinese, Larini kept his options open.

“You never can tell how these things go in football…”
