Arsenal and Wolfsburg are pushing to sign unsettled Roma striker Mattia Destro, claim Italian reports.

The forward has scored in each of his last four Serie A starts, but is often dropped in favour of Francesco Totti as a False 9.

Destro has dropped hints he is unhappy at the situation and could seek a January exit if he is not given more playing time.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, Arsene Wenger is determined to take the 23-year-old forward midseason to strengthen his squad.

It is hardly a new link, as Destro had already been courted by Arsenal over the summer, but he rejected both the Gunners and Bundesliga side Wolfsburg to remain at Roma.

Having now fully recovered from a long-term injury, the ex-Siena striker is raring to go and not prepared to waste more time on the bench.
