Palermo have confirmed that Enzo Maresca successfully underwent surgery today for a case of acute appendicitis.
The veteran was taken to hospital yesterday evening, direct from the Rosanero’s training base in Verona, ahead of this evening’s Week 2 fixture at the Bentegodi.
Suffering from sharp abdominal pains, Maresca was hospitalised and kept under observation overnight.
This afternoon, the club have explained the reason for the episode and that action has been taken.

“The operation was perfectly successful and in the coming days the player will return to Palermo.”
