Inter CEO Alessandro Antonello marked the club’s 111th anniversary with a message for Mauro Icardi. “People and players come and go, but the club remains.”

The striker has not played since he was stripped of the captaincy on February 13 and is refusing to resume training, insisting he feels pain despite doctors giving him the all-clear.

“Being part of Inter is a privilege, but the most important thing is to celebrate this anniversary with the fans,” Antonello told Inter TV.

“People and players come and go, but the club is what remains. As always, you see the fans support the team in every occasion, showing how much they love their club.

“We have to thank those who cheer us on in these difficult moments, because we need them.”

Next week is the Derby della Madonnina against Milan and Antonello revealed a special kit.

“We’ll be wearing a unique jersey, as we are the only club who for over 20 years have worn Nike shirts. It even made an impact in Milan Fashion Week.”
