The goalkeeper was dropped from first team affairs in Sicily in late December after rowing with sporting director Pietro Lo Monaco. He has reportedly now completed a move back to former club Estudiantes, initially on loan until the end of the season.
Earlier this week, the 28-year-old took the time to hit back at claims made by the club that suggested he wanted to leave because his ambition was greater than theirs.
“I have been called many things recently regarding my departure from Catania,” he told Tuttomercatoweb.com.
“Just me and the club know what happened. At the end of the game against Parma, I found myself arguing with the lively Lo Monaco.
“Have I asked for the transfer? No, never. I have too much respect for the club, the fans and the city that saw the birth of my son.
“Lo Monaco and I both have strong characters and the situation has become irreparable.”
The club have also loaned Andujar’s compatriot Pablo Ledesma to Boca Juniors this week after the player fell out with the club over contract negotiations.
Curiously, teammates Cristian Llama and Pablo Barrientos were this week both publicly critical of Ledesma’s behaviour, reportedly offering back-handed comments towards their former teammate via public social networking site Twitter.
