Aurelio Andreazzoli admits Roma are hitting some bumps in the road, but “our plan is to construct a club based on the Borussia Dortmund model.”

The Giallorossi’s hopes of qualifying for Europe took a knock last week when they were held to a 1-1 home draw by bottom of the table Pescara.

On Sunday afternoon they welcome another relegation-threatened side, Siena. Click here for a match preview.

“As some situations keep repeating themselves, they become alarming,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

“It’s a shame, as we wanted to get into a positive trend. It was a step backwards in terms of both result and performance. There is anger and bitterness, but the players are fired up and that bodes well.

“Siena are a tough side to take on, as they are capable of rapid counter-attacks with real quality. I know our line-up for tomorrow, but won’t say it yet out of respect for the players.”

Maarten Stekelenburg was originally named in the squad, but is likely to miss out after picking up a muscular problem in today’s training session, so either Bogdan Lobont or Mauro Goicoechea will start.

Andreazzoli stepped in when Zdenek Zeman was fired in the first week of February, but it’s unlikely he will remain in the job next season.

“Our plan is to construct a club on the Borussia Dortmund model, but as always the enemy is time. In 2006 Borussia were nearly bankrupt, but with Jurgen Klopp turned everything around and make lots of money due to their high ticket sales. However, they had time and patience.

“There need to be many improvements, both in terms of the squad and the environment around the team. Roma aren’t delivering right now because of many factors, such as the media, the fact so many players were changed and excessive pressure. We all need to work on our defects if we are to follow the Borussia model.”
