Aurelio De Laurentiis was ready to sack Carlo Ancelotti following the Napoli players' mutiny on Tuesday, but was talked out of it by his lawyers, claim several reports.

According to the Gazzetta dello Sport and Corriere della Sera newspapers, ADL was furious over the situation to such an extent that he considered getting rid of Ancelotti only hours after the game against RB Salzburg.

La Gazzetta reports that ADL believed Ancelotti had lost the dressing room, and didn't know how the former Milan and Parma boss could regain the respect of his players, and therefore felt he had to go.

He was eventually talked down by his lawyers, who asked the patron to reflect for a time before making any decisions.

It also may have dawned on De Laurentiis that he would've had to pay Ancelotti's salary to the end of the season regardless.

Napoli face Genoa tonight at the Stadio San Paolo.
