It was claimed on Tuesday evening that the 60-year-old would be dismissed after the Champions League game against Genk next week, with Gennaro Gattuso set to take over.

Now, French outlet Foot Mercato writes Carletto could be in line for a return to PSG as a replacement for Thomas Tuchel, who is being linked with Bayern Munich.

The report also mentions that senior players such as Thiago Silva and Marco Verratti are trumpeting for Ancelotti's return.

The former Milan boss coached the Parisians for 18 months, from January 2012 to June 2013, winning a Ligue 1 title.

He then left for Real Madrid, where he masterminded a Champions League triumph in his first season.
