Carlo Ancelotti reiterated he wants to remain at club level, but is “not ruling out” the Italy job in future, especially after Daniele De Rossi’s advice.

The former Bayern Munich boss is the hot favourite to replace sacked Giampiero Ventura on the Nazionale bench.

“As I’ve said, my intention is to work at a club. I am not ruling out the idea of taking a national job at some point in the future. What I can say for sure is that I will not work again for the rest of this season,” Ancelotti told Mediaset Premium.

Roma midfielder De Rossi was also in contact with the studio and practically begged Ancelotti to take the Nazionale job.

“It would be really important for Italy to begin again with a great Coach, an experienced figure and also a man who pretty much everybody likes.

“He did try to sign me at one of his clubs, but it didn’t happen in the end. He also kept telling me that one day he’d love to come to Roma, so we never quite crossed paths.”
