Carlo Ancelotti admits Real Madrid must show improvements against PSG tomorrow: ‘It’s been the season of ‘but’ so far…’

The Merengues meet the Ligue 1 giants in the second leg of the Champions League Round of 16 tomorrow. They lost the first leg in Paris 1-0 three weeks ago. Kylian Mbappé has travelled with the team despite a slight injury in training.

“What happened to Mbappe yesterday leaves him with a chance to play and that’s how we’ve prepared the game, assuming he’s going to play.” Regarding Kroos, he was straight to the point. “A player who isn’t at 100% can’t play this type of game. If Kroos is at 95% he’s not going to play,” the coach said, as quoted by Football Espana.

Ancelotti is en route to winning his first La Liga title after lifting the Spanish Supercup for the first time in his career in December. He has won three Champions League as a coach and is aware that his side is facing the decisive part of the season.

“In the first leg, we were not able to do what we had planned,” he said.

“We had no chances to score, we defended well, except for the final minute. It will be important to do better.

“Everyone has his own opinion about the season of Real Madrid. Until now, it’s been the season of ‘but’. ‘We won but…’, ‘but what if we didn’t have Courtois…’, ‘we defend deep, but…’ We can improve it in the last two months.”
