The tactician had been perhaps the top choice to take over from Cesare Prandelli after the World Cup, but the Azzurri job has gone to Juventus” data-scaytid=”8″>ex-Juventus manager Conte.

“I think choosing Conte for the Nazionale will be good for all of Italian football,” Ancelotti told news agency ANSA.

“He has won so much and worked in an extraordinary way at Juventus over three years. He is the right person.

“As for me, at this moment it is not my intention to target an international bench.”

Ancelotti has plenty on his plate after winning La Decima Champions League at Real Madrid, but is keeping a close eye on his old clubs.

“I hope Roma can have a great season and win the Scudetto. They have reinforced a great deal. This year Serie A will be tougher to win, as I can see a more balanced overall League.”

The tactician was asked about the many transfer rumours surrounding Real Madrid, including Sami Khedira to Fiorentina and Angel Di Maria to Manchester United.

“These are Real Madrid players. The only reason they didn’t play in the European Super Cup is that they only joined the group for training on August 5.

“Tonight’s game with Fiorentina will be important to get match fitness. The issue of transfers is closed and we will not open it again.”

The Merengues face Fiorentina in an international friendly in Warsaw this evening.

There is a tough choice in goal too, as Keylor Navas and Iker Casillas both want to start.

“Who will be first choice? I don’t know yet. This evening will be important for Keylor and only after that will I decide who’ll start against Atletico Madrid.”
