The 32-year-old moved to Milan in July 2010 on a one-year loan and signed permanently in 2011, but was always second choice to Christian Abbiati.

Under Massimiliano Allegri he had even dropped to third pick, but was returned to second by Clarence Seedorf.

Amelia grew up in the Roma youth academy, playing for the likes of Livorno, Lecce, Parma, Palermo and Genoa.
