Milan expect reserve goalkeeper Marco Amelia to be sidelined for four weeks after undergoing surgery.
The custodian, a member of Italy’s 2006 World Cup winning squad, went under the knife on Friday to resolve a meniscus issue.
“Milan wishes to communicate that Marco Amelia underwent knee surgery this afternoon with Dr Massimo Michelotti,” a brief statement read.

“The surgery was a success with recovery time estimated at one month.”
The former Livorno and Palermo man had made one appearance for the Diavolo this term.
