Reports in England claim former Milan goalkeeper Marco Amelia has been offered a trial with Chelsea.

The Blues are without number 1 Thibaut Courtois until after Christmas, and are thought to be seeking a back-up to Asimir Begovic.

According to the Daily Mail and Daily Mirror, free agent Amelia is being considered as emergency cover, as he could sign outwith a transfer window, having been unattached when the window closed.

Having left Milan in 2014, Amelia spent time with amateur outfit Rocca Priora, before joining Perugia in January.

However, he made just one Serie B appearance, and was not retained for this season. Amelia has also won nine caps for Italy.
