Massimiliano Allegri insists tonight’s Champions League clash with Benfica is ‘important but not decisive’ and explains where the Bianconeri must improve.

Juventus host the Portuguese side at the Allianz Stadium in the second match of Group H. It kicks off at 20.00 UK time.

The Old Lady lost the opening match with PSG last week, while Benfica beat Maccabi Haifa at home 2-0.

“It’s going to be a nice match, like all football games. We must play at our best, hoping to get a result, which is the only thing that matters,” Allegri told Prime Video.

“It’s always hard to face Portuguese clubs, we need to play well offensively and be good in our own half, contrary to our last two games.”

Must Juventus transform Sunday’s disappointment into motivation?

“We must. [The VAR error] happened and it’s a fact but what’s great about football is that in a moment a night can become extraordinary. We were satisfied with the comeback but then we faced disappointment.

“It’s an important game, but not decisive. We’d put ourselves in a difficult situation with a defeat, but if we win, we haven’t automatically qualified. We need ten points.”

The Italian tactician was spotted talking to Benfica President Manuel Rui Costa on the touchline.

“We had fun talking about players technically, but it is something that remains between him and me.”
