Juventus Coach Massimiliano Allegri believes “the Scudetto race is still open” but Inter are the favourites.

The Bianconeri have won six Serie A games in a row, and the tactician was asked about the title race ahead of the Coppa Italia tie with Torino.

“I’d rather talk about the game tomorrow,” Allegri said in his pre-match Press conference.

“Anyway, I’ll give an answer to that question. The Scudetto race is still open for all the teams chasing Inter, even though Inter are the number one favourite as I said yesterday.

“Juventus are doing a lot, but now we have to think about tomorrow’s game against Torino.

“Juventus haven’t won successive Coppa Italia since 1959 and 1960, so I think it would be important to achieve that objective.

“It’s not easy, because tomorrow we have a derby against a team who it’s not easy to play against. They want this game, just like us, so we’ll have to be very good.

“As for the League, there are still a lot of games to go. We’re behind, so we have to chase.

“The game against Carpi is another very important game, like the others, because we’re obliged to win.”

Allegri also addressed claims that he isn’t tough enough with the players, with Leonardo Bonucci praising his “intelligence” but noting “sometimes he could use less of the carrot and more of the stick”.

“Everyone has their own methods to convey their ideas and their work, it depends on what you mean by the carrot and the stick, if that means raising your voice.

“I’d say it’s one thing to be authoritarian, it’s another to have authority. I believe people should be strong and authoritative, not authoritarian.”
