Antonio Conte is expected to part company with Inter by mutual consent next week after his post-Europa League Final comments, with reports Max Allegri will take over.

It seems as if nothing has changed since Conte’s angry rant at the end of their final Serie A game of the season against Atalanta three weeks ago.

He repeated many of the same points when speaking to Sky Sport Italia after last night’s 3-2 Europa League Final defeat to Sevilla.

He repeated many of the same points when speaking to Sky Sport Italia after last night’s 3-2 Europa League Final defeat to Sevilla.

“Now we have to get back to Milan, will take two or three days off, then with cool heads will meet. It’s only right that we analyse the entire season, look at everything in a very calm way, and try to plan the future of Inter, whether it’s with or without me,” said Conte.

“If I can say one thing: it was worth it and I will always thank those who gave me the opportunity to have this experience.”

It’s difficult to see a way out of this impasse, so it’s more than likely Conte will negotiate an exit by mutual consent from Inter on Monday or Tuesday.

Pre-season training is about to begin for the 2020-21 campaign and the Nerazzurri need a new coach, so multiple sources including Sky Sport Italia, Tuttosport, the Corriere dello Sport, Sportitalia, Corriere della Sera and more all point to just one candidate: Massimiliano Allegri.

He is, of course, the man who already replaced Conte at Juventus in 2014 and was called in by Beppe Marotta, who is now the chief director at Inter.

Allegri is a free agent, as his contract with Juve has now expired, a year after he was sacked to make way for Maurizio Sarri.
