Juventus are likely to make a financial loss of €18m on Gonzalo Higuain, but are ready to take the hit in order to get him off their books.

Multiple sources report that Andrea Pirlo and the club do not see Pipita being part of their plan for the 2020-21 season.

His contract runs to June 2021 and Tuttosport claim there are no offers to purchase the striker, who turns 33 in December.

With that in mind, the only option is to negotiate a termination by mutual consent so that he can then become a free agent and decide his own future.

This too is problematic, with Higuain refusing to give up on the €7.5m salary he is owed for the remaining year of his contract.

Tuttosport suggest he’ll only agree to leave with a golden handshake, which will mean Juventus making a loss of €18m on Higuain, calculating the €90m spent in 2016 to get him from Napoli and the weight of his wages.

Even that is considered to be worth it for the Bianconeri to push Higuain out and have a fresh start.

The Argentine has realistically been on the way out since 2018, when he was sent out on loan to Milan for six months, then Chelsea, while last summer he rejected all offers in order to fight for his place in Turin.

He’ll end his Juve career with 149 competitive appearances and 66 goals.
