Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri has high hopes for young strikers Stephan El Shaarawy and Mario Balotelli in the new campaign.

El Shaarawy was a revelation in the first half of last season, before Balotelli made the headlines following his January move from Manchester City.

“El Shaarawy just has to keep working,” the tactician noted. “He was thrown into the limelight at a young age and he needs to find the right balance and remain relaxed.

“He is training well and he has done good things and things less well in matches as everyone has. He just needs to stay focused.

“Everyone needs to question themselves each day and you have to keep looking to the future. Stephan has all the qualities to get back to how he was playing last year.”

The 20-year-old grabbed 16 goals in 37 League games, while Balotelli, his Italian international colleague, bagged 12 in 13 Serie A ties.

“Balotelli is training well,” Allegri added from their American training base. “He is an extraordinary player and he can still improve.

“He needs to make himself a team player as do all star players.

“He has a good temperament, he is well liked within the squad, but he can be provoked so he needs to handle that carefully.”
