Max Allegri admits “this is the worst moment of my three and a half years at Milan” and the team goes into a training camp.

The situation is disastrous, as they are now 16 points adrift of third place after just 11 rounds and visit Barcelona in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Barbara Berlusconi met with the team in the locker room after the 2-0 home defeat to Fiorentina, while Vice-President Adriano Galliani left the stands after the second goal. The team will go into a pre-game ritiro training camp from Sunday.

“The decision was made by the club along with the Coach and players. It’s the worst moment of my three and a half years at Milan,” confessed Allegri on Sky Sport Italia.

“We need to find the solution to get out of this moment. Staying together will help us prepare for Barcelona and Chievo, above all psychologically.

“The last half-hour of tonight’s game was really terrible. We need to get back on our feet and shake off the bad situations that happen. We must work and see what’s going wrong, what needs changing and now the game with Chievo becomes very important for us, more so than Barcelona.

“When things go badly, there are many causes. The team cannot play as badly as they did tonight. We did little in attack, even if we were punished by a long-range effort that was deflected.”

The fans showed banners protesting that this side needed a defender and midfielder over the summer rather than more strikers.

“It’s not an issue of the transfer strategy, it’s that we suffered a lot of injuries. I thought we had found the way after Udinese” data-scaytid=”13″>Udinese and Barcelona, but with Parma, Lazio” data-scaytid=”14″>Lazio and above all this evening we seem to have lost it again.

“In football the only thing that counts is the result. At times people forget how we got them. The lads cannot be criticised for the effort they put in tonight, but it just didn’t work.

“Right now things are going badly, we have only 12 points. I am the Coach and the club will tell me if and when they make a decision. There haven’t been any meetings planned as far as I know. I am the Coach and one way or another I’ll find the solution to this.

“We’re missing Stephan El Shaarawy, who is important for a 4-3-3 or a 4-2-3-1, so we don’t have many options out wide at the moment. I know Kaka has to play supporting a striker, but I have to improvise in the circumstances.

“What we need to do is speed the moves up a bit, as we don’t pick the right passes, take too long to get near the goal and concede far too many goals from free kicks. It’s normal that we have to change something and this week we’ll have time to work on that.”

Allegri was asked what he could do to turn this situation around.

“The performances against Barcelona, at home to Udinese and for long periods with Parma and Lazio were good. The details make the difference and we need to be more determined in certain areas of the field.

“Right now I have to make the team feel calm. We need to be more exuberant and speed up the attacks.

“Are the players still behind me? The players shouldn’t be behind me, they should be behind each other and work together as a team. It’s my job to indicate them in the right direction.”
