“Tonight we had so many chances, even a penalty, and Genoa scored with their only shot on target. Of course we should’ve been more clinical, but things aren’t going well for us at the moment,” he told Sky Sport Italia.
This is the first time since September 2007 that the Rossoneri have gone five Serie A rounds without a win.
“It’s only natural there is bitterness that we are without a win in a month. In terms of performance we did much better tonight and conceded practically no chances. Of course now we have to work even harder and do even better, as what we’re doing is not enough.
“It is strange to see the table, especially as we deserved more, but if we are there then it means we haven’t done enough. We all have the determination to improve and climb the standings.
“The team believed tonight and pushed to the final second. We must lick our wounds and prepare for a very difficult game against Celtic.
“I am eager to bring the team back to a good position in Serie A, continue in the Champions League and also the Coppa Italia. In my three years at Milan we always did well, but things aren’t going our way this season.”
Mario Balotelli’s crisis is also becoming a problem, as he saw another penalty saved by Mattia Perin tonight.
“Penalties can be missed. He scored so many in his career, but unfortunately the last two he took in Serie A were both saved. He has to stay calm and not get too downhearted, as in a match players can get it wrong with a chance, a pass or a penalty, they still have to work for the whole 90 minutes.
“Perin had an extraordinary performance, but we also made far too many mistakes in attack and need more determination when trying to score.
“Kaka brings more quality to both the midfield and the strikers, so I am very happy with his performance.”
Allegri assured he has no intention of quitting Milan, nor should he be replaced.
“I have not run out of words and ideas – otherwise I’d have already left! Tomorrow we will meet up and start preparing for the Champions League.
“We drew an incredible game and it was the same against Chievo, where we dominate and can’t seem to get the victory. When the team plays at this level, all we can do is be more determined and accurate in front of goal.
“If the team was lacking organisation or didn’t know what it should be doing, it wouldn’t have put in a performance like this tonight. We were absolutely dominant.”
