Massimiliano Allegri couldn’t hide his irritation after Milan dropped a 2-0 lead in Prague.

“A game like this should’ve been won, as we were leading by two goals,” he snapped after a 2-2 Champions League draw with Viktoria Plzen.

“We need to be gritty and determined to the 95th minute. It’s really disappointing that we come away with this result.

“The goal came from us losing the ball in midfield for a potential move of our own, but instead we conceded.”

Alexandre Pato and Robinho had struck in quick succession at the dawn of the second half, but were denied by Viktoria’s stoppage-time comeback.

“I can be satisfied with some things, as we played alright despite the new line-up, but it’s a shame to concede those goals.

“I’ll look on the positive side and say at least we won’t be making this mistake again anytime soon.”

The result was irrelevant, as Milan had already qualified in second place behind Barcelona, while Viktoria Plzen go into the Europa League.

This evening Chelsea, Bayer Leverkusen, Arsenal, Olympique Marseille, Apoel Nicosia and Zenit St Petersburg all confirmed their place in the knockout rounds.
