Max Allegri explains why he has chosen to debut Juventus talent 21-year-old Enzo Barrenechea in the Derby della Mole against Torino. ‘He knows how to play football and tonight will prove it.’

It kicks off at the Allianz Juventus Stadium in Turin at 19.45 GMT.

It was announced this evening that Juventus have officially lodged their appeal against the 15-point Serie A penalty for artificially inflating transfer fees to boost capital gains.

That penalty has left Juve only one point above rivals Torino going into this Derby della Mole.

“Thinking back at what happened before the reverse fixture is senseless. We have to bring home these three points against a tough Torino and need a strong performance,” Allegri told DAZN.

Manuel Locatelli is suspended, but the coach surprised by picking 21-year-old Barrenechea for his Serie A debut in midfield, shelving Leandro Paredes.

“Barrenechea has been training constantly with us. He made his debut in the Champions League, is in good shape, knows how to play football and tonight he will prove it.”

It is also the return of Paul Pogba and Chiesa to the bench after injury problems, the Frenchman’s first appearance on the touchline since his return from Manchester United.

“Pogba and Chiesa are on the bench, we’ll see how the game evolves. Chiesa certainly has more in the tank than Pogba, who hasn’t played at all since the summer.”
