Juventus Coach Max Allegri was pleased after the meeting with Italy CT Antonio Conte and says the national team benefits ‘the whole of Italian football’.

The Bianconero was present along with other Serie A Coaches at a summit with the national team Coach, held by the Italian Football Federation on Tuesday.

The two Coaches have often been seen as rivals since Allegri replaced Conte on the bench of Juventus, but the former’s impressions were positive.

“Yesterday's meeting with the Coach of the national team was positive. It was a debate in which we exchanged ideas to look for something in common.

“We walked out of the debate having established a collaborative effort for the players that are called up to the national team.

“All of this is normal. It was the first meeting between Serie A Coaches and the Coach of the national team and it was positive.”

Allegri was also asked whether it was true that Conte is prickly, as Juventus President Andrea Agnelli defined him.

“I don't know. I don't have such an intimate or a personal relationship with Conte that I can say if he's prickly or not.

“Yesterday we had a normal debate. In these situations you have an exchange of ideas, and you try to confront yourselves to find a compromise.

“A compromise is something normal, as it should be, between the Coach of the national team and those of the clubs.

“There is a collaborative relationship, so yesterday there was nothing else to expect really, just a chat about things that were very simply and clear.”

One of Conte's recurring ideas is that of a training camp for Italian players, but Allegri echoed Fiorentina Coach Vincenzo Montella in saying that the decision does not come down to him.

“There are some dates established by FIFA that have to be respected.

“Besides which the players do not belong to me, they belong to Juventus.

“This was a debate that was necessary between the FIGC and the clubs.

“Personally, I am very happy when players are called up for the national team and do well.

“I think the national team is to everyone’s benefit. If they do well, they do it primarily for their own good, but also for the good of the entire movement of Italian football.”
