The Old Lady's President had released an interview with Repubblica and Il Corriere dello Sport, insisting the project would go ahead.

The interview was released before the six English clubs pulled out of the competition.

Agnelli once again hit out at FIFA at UEFA saying they are not facing any economic risks and adding they should decide whether to act as regulators or commercial promoters.

However, the Super League project seems to have collapsed now.

"Andrea Agnelli, Super League vice-chair and Juventus chairman just told Reuters they can no longer progress with the breakaway after the exit of the six English clubs," Reuters Sports News and Football Correspondent Simon Evans tweeted.

"I remain convinced of the beauty of that project," Agnelli insisted.

The Old Lady's President claimed the Super League would have been "the best competition in the world."
