“From the 2024-25 season, there will be a single league made up of all 36 competing clubs. This will give four more sides the opportunity to compete against the best clubs in Europe,” the European football governing body announced.

“Under the new format, teams will play four matches more than is currently the case. They will no longer play three opponents twice, home and away, but will instead face fixtures against ten different teams, half of them at home and half of them away.”

According to Bloomberg, UEFA is also in talks with an investment fund to boost the Champions League budget with a €6 billion financing package.

The new project was supposed to start in 2024, but the chaos created by the Super League over the last 48 hours seems to have convinced UEFA representative to anticipate the start of competition with a new format.
