Leonel Vangioni’s agent says the defender is “happy” at Milan, after finally breaking into the team.

The left-back didn’t feature at all in the first six months of the season, but an injury crisis has seen him play 90 minutes for the past three matches in a row.

“Leonel is now very happy with everything that is happening,” Armando Vangioni, his father and agent, told MilanNews.

“Coach [Vincenzo] Montella is playing him consistently and that’s giving him a chance to adapt to his game. That’s very important.

“There’s been a good relationship between them ever since Leonel arrived in Milan. He’s also developed a good relationship with the squad.

“For any foreign player it’s not easy to quickly learn the secrets of Serie A, and it’s also not easy to go six months without playing a competitive match.

“In that regard Leonel has shown that he has great concentration, he showed that when he was called on by Montella in a difficult moment for the team.

“In these three games he’s done very well, it’s not easy after six months out. If Montella give him trust, then I’m sure he’ll repay him with commitment and dedication.”

Can Vangioni now start to think about a return to the Argentina team?

“It’s true that Leonel is a player who is well-regarded in Argentina, but without playing consistently at Milan it’s difficult to be called-up for the national team.

“That’s why in January we thought about changing team, just to play more, not because he was unhappy at Milan.

“Thank God now Montella is giving him a fair chance.

“The future? Leonel’s future is Milan, this is a team with great potential and he’s happy here. I think he has the chance to show what he can do until the end of his contract.

“He’s good here.”
