Emanuele Giaccherini’s agent says Sunderland want €2.5m for his client, and Torino are interested.

The winger joined the Black Cats from Juventus in 2013, but struggled to adapt to English football and spent last season on loan at Bologna.

“I can’t deny that I talked to [sporting director Gianluca] Petrachi of Torino,” Furio Valcareggi said in an interview with Tuttosport.

“Right now my client is only focused on the European Championships, but he’s pleased to be linked with a big club like the Granata.

“Sunderland want €2.5m, and we’re ready to knock on their door and negotiate his exit. With a nice project, Giaccherini would also be willing to negotiate on his salary.”

Giaccherini is a firm favourite of Antonio Conte, who has somewhat controversially called him up for Euro 2016.

“Giaccherini is very motivated for the European Championship. He has the confidence of Conte, who wanted him at Juventus and for the national team.

“Emanuele isn’t world-class, but he’s a serious professional.”
