Paul Pogba’s agent assures the Juventus midfielder ‘never intended to break the rules’ after he failed a Serie A doping test.

The player showed elevated levels of testosterone in his blood test following the 3-0 win away to Udinese on August 20, a game that he spent on the bench.

The B Sample will be analysed over the next couple of days, but Pogba has been provisionally suspended.

“We are waiting for the results of the counter-analysis and cannot say anything until then,” agent Rafaela Pimenta told sources including Tuttosport and Calciomercato.com.

“The only certain thing is that Paul Pogba never intended to break the rules.”

Juventus also confirmed they will evaluate the next steps in his defence, assuming that the substance had contaminated something else and was taken accidentally.

Atalanta defender Jose Luis Palomino was the most recent Serie A player to fail a doping test in July 2022, but he took almost four months to be cleared and was suspended throughout that period.
