Carlos Bacca’s agent confirmed Sevilla “can be a possibility,” while Milan have “other priorities. He turned down offers from China,” Monaco and Marseille were interested.

The striker is not part of Vincenzo Montella’s plans and is for sale at €20-30m, but so far the only proposals from European clubs have been to take him on loan.

“The situation at the moment saw the arrival of new owners and new directors with a new project, so they proved that they have other priorities,” agent Sergio Barila told Colombian station Caracol Radio.

“Carlos is a player whose career in Europe speaks for itself, so we are trying to find the best possible solution for the player – which is the most important thing – and the club.

“He still has three years to run on his Milan contract, so there is the possibility he could stay, but only if the sporting conditions are favourable. This is a World Cup year, he needs to be in good shape and have the best possible season leading up to the tournament in Russia.”

Bacca has made it clear he wants a return to his old club Sevilla, who he left in 2015 for €30m.

“He was there before, he knows the club and La Liga, doing very well at Sevilla,” continued Barila. “It can be a possibility for the club, the player and the fans. There’s a contractual issue in the way, but Carlos puts the happiness of his family and his sporting ambition ahead of economic terms.

“If he were to leave Milan and Sevilla offered an important chance, I think he’d view it all in a very positive light.

“It’s true there were offers from China and they are trying to get top-level players from Europe. The situation presented itself, but Carlos is not thinking about this. Carlos wants to stay in Europe and compete at an important level.”

It had been reported Ligue 1 was a concrete option for Monaco or Olympique Marseille.

“Monaco called me to ask about the player’s situation, how he and Milan felt about it. Carlos is an important player and the club that has him can be guaranteed goals: if he were to continue at Milan, he’d score even more than until now, because the quality of the squad is superior to last season.

“If he is to leave, then it’s only natural that some clubs are looking for him. Most of the important European clubs, and I won’t get into details, have enquired about his situation.”
