The 31-year-old Dane has impressed since his arrival in January on loan from Sevilla, making 13 competitive appearances.

“Simon is extremely happy at Milan and felt at ease from the moment he arrived at this club,” agent Mikkel Beck told MilanNews.it.

“I think he is playing well and adapted very quickly to his new team. Simon would very much love to stay at Milan next season and I think there’s a possibility that will happen, seeing as Milan do have an option to buy him from Sevilla.

“We talked to Milan, but for the moment they are playing their cards close to their chest. We’ll wait a little longer for their decision. We haven’t booked any appointment so far to discuss the situation.

“The only really important thing here is to note the date that Milan have to activate their purchase option by is June 30. We will wait for that date to see if Milan want to continue this adventure with Simon or not.

“We really hope so, as Simon thinks he can help this squad over the next two-three years, so it can be a good option both for him and the club.”
