Fiorentina winger Joaquin wants to return to Real Betis this summer, the player’s agent confirms.

Reports this morning suggested that the 34-year-old had made it clear he wants to be allowed to rejoin his boyhood club, and the player’s representative has clarified the situation.

“The player’s desire has always been to return to Betis,” Eduardo Espejo admitted in an interview with Radio Bruno Toscana.

“At 34-years-old there’s a desire to return to his lifelong club, it’s a choice made with his heart, not for money.

“Joaquin feels affection for the Viola shirt, and respects the fans, so it’s a difficult decision. Last year he could have left, but he stayed because he’s a professional.

“The situtation is different now, he wants to go back to his boyhood club, and this is his last chance to do so. It’s not about money, he’d be giving up a lot to go back home.

“The fans should understand this, he’s a great player who has given everything for the Viola shirt, but above all he’s human.

“It’s not about money, Joaquin has the opportunity to return to Betis.

“[Betis technical director Eduardo] Macia knows the situation. I don’t know what will happen, you know what the player wants, now the club will decide.”
