Mateo Kovacic says he’s joined the ‘biggest club in the world’ after swapping Inter for Real Madrid.

The Croatian international has joined Los Merengues in a deal thought to be worth around €35m, and was presented to fans and media today.

“I want to thank everyone, especially the President [Florentino Perez],” Kovacic told the assembled journalists.

“I want to thank everyone, especially the President [Florentino Perez],” Kovacic told the assembled journalists.

“He offered me his support immediately, and I hope to continue this relationship of collaboration. It’s a special feeling, this is the biggest club in the world.

“I’ll give everything for this team. Thanks, and Hala Madrid!”

Perez also addressed the media, and is backing the 21-year-old to shine at Bernabeu.

“Today Kovacic arrives, he’s young but mature, and we welcome him. Today is a new start for him, to be part of this squad is a privilege which requires effort and sacrifice.

“He will be the fifth Croatian to play for Real. If he gives his all for this shirt, then the fans will be behind him. With his talent, he can do historic things.”
