The agent of Napoli forward Lorenzo Insigne has spoken of his client’s disappointment in suffering a season-ending knee injury, but says he’s in good hands.

Insigne was diagnosed with a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament after being assessed by medical staff this morning following an injury during the Partenopei’s win over Fiorentina on Sunday.

With recovery time for such an injury usually at least six months, the 23-year-old is unlikely to play again this season, but the player’s agent insists the diminutive attacker will try to return as soon as possible.

“At the moment there’s not much to say,” Antonio Ottaiano has told Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli.

“I’d prefer not to give an official statement, but I can say that we’re disappointed, we’re not going to hide that.

“Having said that, we know that Lorenzo will do his best to return to the pitch sooner than expected.

“We’re here at Villa Stuart and look forward to the outcome of the operation.

“Napoli have placed the player in good hands, those of Professor [Pier Paolo] Mariani, the number one specialist in this type of operation.”
