Stephan Lichtsteiner [Juventus]
Like an avalanche of molten metal sliding down the Alps, the Swiss man mountain wiped out any Parma advances, produced two killer assists and climaxed an awesome performance with a screamer from the edge of the box into the top corner. Landsliding.
Daniele Rugani [Empoli]
Had the upper hand throughout and completely annulled the whole of Lazio’s left flank and, like the power of electricity when wired to various parts of the anatomy, his tackles were effective, especially his totally crucial one on Michael Ciani. Electrifying.
Kalidou Koulibaly
Another mountainous display from K2, who cleared, headed away or made crucial tackles when needed. Alert until the end and needed to be as at the last moment he cleared off the line then headed away the subsequent corner. Volcanic.
Miralem Pjanic [Roma]
Always busy, producing two wonderful assists as well as seeing his curling free-kick bounce off the crossbar. Moments after setting up Seydou Keita he again tested the visiting ’keeper with a real hurricane before his assist for Adem Ljajic. Exhilarating.
Paul Pogba [Juventus]
Another muscular performance by the youngster who pushed, probed and in general played a blinder. Not that the defence needed much help but he was always alert to any counter-attacks while his forward movement was sensational. Breathtaking.
Seydou Keita [Roma]
He patrolled the midfield like a restless wolf keeping any advances from Torino right down to a minimum. He also got forward on many occasions, scoring the second goal with an accurate strike from the edge of the box. Foxy.
Sergio Pellissier [Chievo]
The 35-year-old peeled back the years and turned the game around as a second-half sub. Grabbing hold of the attack, he inspired his teammates, scoring with his first touch and heading home the winner at the death. Precious.
Gonzalo Higuain [Napoli]
The Viola defenders may as well have tried walking up an escalator in the wrong direction such was their effectiveness when trying to deal with Gonzogol throughout. Oh yes he also scored a brilliant winner. Invaluable.
Carlos Tevez [Juventus]
The chances of getting anything from Juve are slim to none, with slim slipping out for a salami sarnie, leaving the Apache with ample time to butter the bread, eat it and still score twice, his first a superb solo effort. Glorious.
Massimo Maccarone [Empoli]
The Gladiator returned with a top performance and the crucial second goal. After firing in but wide twice beforehand the 35-year-old made no mistake with his goal, a vicious half-volley that arrowed straight into the net. Vital.
