The Italian international has been struck down by a second cruciate ligament injury in 12 months, and is expected to spend three to four months on the sidelines.

Napoli had been linked with a January move for the 24-year-old before his knee injury, but Perin’s representative insists he’d have stayed until the summer even without the setback.

“I rule-out any possible transfer in this window,” Matteo Roggi explained to Sportitalia.

“That’s even though the lad has been followed by Everton since last year, they came to see him almost every Sunday.

“I don’t know anything about Napoli, I’ve never spoken with them. However, even without the injury he would have stayed at Genoa until June.”
