Andrea Conti’s agent warns the defender’s next career step is ‘a big dilemma’ and he must decide between sticking with Milan or walking away.

The 26-year-old cost €24m from Atalanta in the summer of 2017, but a series of injuries have seen him manage only 48 appearances for the Rossoneri in all competition.

His contract runs to June 2022, but with just two Europa League games this season, a decision has to be made.

“Andrea is certainly not happy, because last year he played regularly with Stefano Pioli and was first choice, but then after surgery to clean up the knee in July, he took a little while to recover and Davide Calabria took over,” agent Mario Giuffredi told MilanNews.it.

“Davide is doing very well now. Conti is a little disappointed, we’ll see what happens. Conti is a big dilemma for me, on a daily basis. Last year he proved that he is worthy of Milan, despite a thousand problems, so it’d be irritating for me to see him flourish elsewhere when he already proved what he can do here.

“However, if he stays at Milan and the situation continues like this until June, that means it will have been a failure. Conti is a question mark we consider every day.

“He had several offers, but Pioli always guaranteed that the player is given due consideration. We’ll evaluate everything in January and see what happens.”
