Martin Caceres’ agent is “surprised” Juventus suspended him after a car crash and insisted “he was not drunk.”

The Uruguay international crashed his Ferrari into a bus stop on Monday night and reportedly failed a breath test.

“It was a dinner between friends, they drank a toast and had some champagne. All it takes is a glass of alcohol to go over the limit,” agent and former Juventus star Daniel Fonseca told Sky Sport Italia.

“Martin was not drunk and anyone who knows him will realise that. Having said that, he made a mistake, he should’ve got a taxi and it would’ve ended there.

“Will he apologise? He is disappointed, certainly. We are not idiots, but the matter should end there.

“Obviously he was surprised with the decision to suspend him, but Juventus also have every reason to do what they did. Martin is an employee of the club and they declared him temporarily out of the squad.

“He will assimilate the error, which will never happen again, and continue to be as fond of the Juventus shirt as he has been all these years.”

It’s believed Juve clamped down harder on Caceres because he was also involved in a car crash last year.
