Miralem Pjanic admits “not much worked” in Roma’s 3-2 Champions League defeat to BATE Borisov.

Although they fought back late on, the Giallorossi were 3-0 down after half an hour in Belarus.

“What didn’t work in the first half? Not much worked, to be honest,” Pjanic told Roma TV.

“We didn’t play our football. We allowed BATE to control the game and were completely absent when it came to individual duels.

“It is certainly a night to forget, but above all to be analysed so we don’t make the same mistakes again. We reacted after the break, won back the ball and played more in their half. There was more movement and aggression, leading to our two goals.

“We must work to not repeat the same errors of the first half. This shouldn’t have happened. Now we are bottom of the group and have to win against Bayer Leverkusen.”
