Matteo Politano has scored just one goal in Serie A this season and his agent Mario Giuffredi believes that Luciano Spalletti’s playing style is affecting his client and Napoli wingers.

The Italy international has only found the net three times in 31 appearances across all competitions this term, one in Serie A and two in Europa League. He was much more effective in the final third last season when he scored 12 goals in 50 appearances under Gennaro Gattuso.

“Napoli’s wingers haven’t scored many goals from open play this season, Spalletti’s playing style is not favourable for them,” Giuffredi told Radio Marte.

“He wants more sacrifice from them, he expects them the help defensively. With Gattuso, they had attacking duties.

“It would be unfair to only focus on Politano, the different playing style this season is affecting all the wingers.”

  1. The wingers have certainly dissapointed this season, but it’s not Spaletti’s fault. Insigne is already in canada mentally, lozano was bogged by injuries and all of them’s descision-making is arse.

  2. They’re getting no goals from any of the forwards this year. Most of the scoring is coming from the midfield, which never used to happen on the past.
