Speaking to Firenze Viola, the Italian businessman revealed he and brother Diego had visited the squad as they prepared for today’s Serie A match at Bologna.

“We came to meet the boys in order to clear the air after last Sunday’s unexpected shock,” Della Valle began.

“Being honest, it was a match that was truly awful and shameful. But I am convinced we will respond well.

“Until two weeks ago we had seen the Fiorentina we know. It was good for me to see the boys again and I hope to do it again soon.”

Della Valle stressed the need for everyone at the club to remain united.

“We all need to react together and I hope the team can do it on the pitch today.

“The players are angry with themselves for what happened last Sunday. Let’s see how they respond.

“At difficult moments everyone is always there, that’s how it’s always been. We have always been united, hopefully it will be the same in the city one day.”
