According to Calciomercato.it, the Neapolitan forward is a long way from securing a new contract with the Partenopei and the club have lost interest in reaching an agreement.

This season has been disappointing for the 25-year-old, who is yet to score a goal and has missed out on international call-ups from Azzurri boss Giampiero Ventura.

Insigne currently earns €1.8 m per season, with his contract expiring in June 2019, but negotiations have reportedly ground to a halt after the player asked that his salary be increased to €6m.

Relations between the two parties have been strained for some time, with the player's agent having already stated back in August that his client 'plans to leave'.

For these reasons, the report suggests that De Laurentiis has already decided to sell Insigne, and has decided on a €50m price tag.
