Napoli's Aurelio De Laurentiis rejects talk of selling Gonzalo Higuain, muses on a possible return for Ezequiel Lavezzi and maintains faith in Rafa Benitez.

The film mogul has commented today on continued speculation about a possible move away from the San Paolo for their star striker.

“I have no intention of selling Higuain,” De Laurentiis declared to Sky Sport 24, reiterating words from the player’s agent.

“We are strengthening the team and will buy other reinforcements. We have to do this in a methodical manner, not by chance.

“If we can't find the right ones in January, we'll get them in June. I know we must reinforce the midfield and the defence.”

Nonetheless, the President seemed mixed about a possible return of former star Ezequiel Lavezzi.

“I'd get him for the sole reason that I like him. We often confronted each other often strongly, we are two personalities who don't mince words and I'd like that kind of confrontation.

“Having said that, I don't like second servings of the same soup. He has to find the right motivation in a club that can satisfy that.”

Speculation continues to link Rafa Benitez with an exit from Napoli in the summer, when his contract expires.

Whilst the Coach has continued to hint towards that idea, his President maintains belief that he will stay in Italy.

“I think he wants to stay because he is extremely fond of the city, unless he's called back by Liverpool, where he has his family.

“Otherwise, if it's a matter of going to another city which is still 2000km away from his family.

“But I do not think that after two years Rafa would do wrong and abandon us.

“I will meet with him in two or three months from now.

“I would like to speak about our goalkeepers. I've been told off for not keeping [Pepe] Reina [now at Bayern Munich], but our 'keepers have been solid.

“I'll probably bring back Luigi Sepe, so we're going to have three of them, all very strong.”
