Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis says he ‘never considered selling Gonzalo Higuain’, and appreciates the ‘hard-working’ Maurizio Sarri.

Speaking in an interview with Corriere della Sera, De Laurentiis covered a number of topics including the possibility of buying a foreign club.

“I never, ever considered selling Higuain,” he said.

“It wasn’t by chance that I put a very high clause in his contract, which makes it difficult to sustain for any buyer.

“I expect that he’s respectful of the commitment and work of the team.

“Sarri works hard, I appreciate his persistence in the application of his ideas, some of which are new.

"My Napoli has a very high profit. I took over Napoli in 2004 and bought nothing, there was nothing, not even balls or shirts.

“I had to re-establish everything, and we got to the Champions League.

“What do I think of Carlo Tavecchio? I don’t think about him. Italian football must start again!

"Will I buy a foreign club? For now it is only a vision, because I’m too busy with Napoli.”
