Sassuolo won their friendly 7-1 today, but above all with Francesco Acerbi on target after beating cancer.
The Neroverdi made short work of Serie D side Virtus Castelfranco this evening.
Sergio Floccari, Davide Biondini, Nicola Sansoni’s stunning shot into the top corner, Antonio Floro Flores, Marcello Sereni and Simone Zaza were on target.
There was a special moment deep into stoppages when defender Acerbi scored their seventh goal.
Acerbi has beaten cancer after he was twice diagnosed with a testicular tumour thanks to routine doping tests.
The blood tests flagged up unusual levels of a hormone which is often found in the presence of a tumour.
He was first diagnosed in July 2013, had that tumour removed, but the cancer returned in December 2013.
