Tammy Abraham was visibly moved after his brace helped Roma win the Derby Della Capitale 3-0 against Lazio. ‘Wow. I can’t ask for a better day. This is our home, our stadium, our Rome.’

It was one-way traffic at the Olimpico, as Abraham had opened the scoring within 56 seconds, he completed his brace by the 22nd minute and then Lorenzo Pellegrini fired in a spectacular long-range free kick.

Abraham has now scored more goals in his debut Roma campaign than Gabriel Batistuta or Vincenzo Montella had managed.

“I have no words. Wow. You can see what it means to the fans, to my teammates, to everyone who supported Roma,” a clearly emotional Abraham told DAZN.

“For the past couple of weeks I’ve been hearing all about this game. It’s a great rivalry and to be here with the boys, to score two goals and help my team to victory – I can’t ask for a better day.

“I give credit to my teammates, the fans, the manager, the staff, everybody made me feel like family. When everyone believes in you, it gives you that confidence.

“I am here, this is my home, they spent so much to bring me here and I have to repay them.”

He could’ve had a treble in the second half, but missed a great scoring opportunity one-on-one with Thomas Strakosha.

“I am still disappointed I didn’t get the hat-trick! A chance like that, I have to score, but we won, this is our home, this is our stadium, this is our Rome. We are happy with the win.”

Abraham was asked how the Italian lessons are coming along.

“Give me one or two months, I’ll give an interview in Italian. I did it in English because I wanted to describe how wonderful this moment is.”
