FIGC President Giancarlo Abete is reportedly now reluctant to sign Cesare Prandelli to the length of contract he is apparently after.

Reports this week have emerged that Prandelli is ready to commit to another four years in charge of the Azzurri, which would also involve a more hands-on management throughout the youth set-up at national level.

However, today it is being reported in Italy that FIGC chief Abete is reluctant to appease the 56-year-old’s idea of a guaranteed four years, on the basis that if the Azzurri struggle in Brazil this summer, committing to the same Coach for four further years would prove difficult.

Subsequently, current talks are said to be centring on a compromise of a two-plus-two contract, with an option in 2016 to extend through to 2018 based on performance clauses.
