Federation President Giancarlo Abete believes Napoli's excellent campaign “can only be good for Italian football.”

The Scudetto race is still wide open with just three points separating Milan, Inter and the Vesuviani.

“We hope the season can keep on being this interesting right to the end, in the races for the title, European places and relegation,” the FIGC chief told Radio Kiss Kiss.

Napoli have been among the most vocal in complaining about referees and suggesting their success is ‘a problem' for the powers that be.

“Complaints about referees have always existed, but that's only natural and part of the sport.

“Napoli being so high up the table is indubitably a pleasure for everyone in football. It's great to see them recover after their bankruptcy and time in Serie C.

“The Neapolitan fans are loved by all and seeing them challenge for the title can only be good for Italian football.

“President Aurelio De Laurentiis deserves a lot of credit for taking the club back to such high levels.”
