Cristian Chivu is hoping that Inter can capitalise on their stunning fightback in the 3-2 win at Catania on Sunday.

The Nerazzurri were 2-0 down at the break, but recovered to keep their Champions League dream alive.

“Could this be the turning point of the season? I think this is what we wanted to convey,” the defender told Mediaset.

“And that's what the Coach put across during the 15-minute half-time interval.

“We could do it, by attacking them and playing better than we'd started – and in the end our effort and desire paid off.”

The Beneamata are fourth in Serie A, just a point behind city rivals Milan and the Champions League zone.

“I think a team needs character and the ability to play good football, as well as ambition and humility,” Chivu added.

“These are key traits for any squad, the knowledge that you can help each other out in the tough times.

“I believe the whole squad deserves the credit as we showed character and will to win.

“The truth is this team showed humility, just like we did when we had world-class players a few years ago, players that would slot in at full-back when things got difficult.”
